The Rare 2022 Quarters: Identifying Errors and Assessing Value

In 2022, the first American Women Quarters series featuring Maya Angelou quarters were produced by the mints in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. That year, silver proof coins were also made at the San Francisco mint.

Maya Angelou was a social activist and brilliant writer who received more than 30 honorary degrees. Her book, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, was published, and it made her famous all over the world. She went on to publish more artwork and received over 30 titles in the process.

She was the first female African American poet to perform a poem she had written at President Bill Clinton's inauguration in 1992. President Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2010, and the Literarian Award recognized her contributions to the literary world in 2013.

Maya Angelou's 2022 quarters are extremely valuable because of their personal and historical significance. Error ones are the rarest and most precious.

This coin has several noteworthy minting flaws, most of which command a premium price. Among them are the:

The location of the die mark on the coin's surface is used to name these faults.

The second quarter in the series is the De. Sally Ride quarter. Ride launched into space as the first American woman and the youngest person to do so in 1983 at the age of thirty-two. she recovered a satellite in space with the help of a robotic arm

After seeing the stark gender gap in these fields, Ride played a key role in bringing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to the attention of girls. Boys and girls from all backgrounds can access STEM education and find role models and mentors for their future careers through the Sally Ride Science organization.

In her roles as a physicist, teacher, and astronaut, Ride won multiple accolades and was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame, the Aviation Hall of Fame, and the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

The back of the Sally Ride 2022 quarters features a noticeable flaw that is commonly referred to as the Ghost Comet Tail error. This mistake may be seen adjacent to the Earth and behind Ride's neck and shoulder as a line.

The third quarter in the American Women Quarters series is the Wilma Mankiller quarter. Mankiller, who grew up in a home where racism and poverty were prevalent, went on to become a well-known advocate for women's and children's rights and the first female president of the Cherokee Nation.

As the principal chief, she developed new schools, housing, and healthcare facilities, as well as implemented cutting-edge child welfare initiatives, all of which significantly enhanced community life in northeastern Oklahoma.

For her services, she was honored with the 1998 Presidential Medal of Freedom and inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.

the WilMa Mankiller quarter from the 2022 series has the highest number of minting errors. The most easily visible fault is a break in the die on the front side of the coin near the edge. A retained die break occurs when a small piece breaks off and creates a gap in the die; as the die strikes the planchet repeatedly, metal builds up in the gap and causes a raised area on the coin.

On the reverse side of the coin, there is also a prominent vertical crack in the die. This type of crack forms in a similar manner: metal fills the crack in the die and is stamped onto the planchet, creating a raised line on the coin's surface.

The Nina Otero-Warren quarter, named for the dynamic New Mexican suffrage activist and the first female administrator of Santa Fe's public schools, is the fourth quarter in the series.

Spanish was made an official political language by Otero-warren, who advocated for the inclusion of the minority in the nation's democracy. The country's democratic system was influenced by her. Also, she led the campaign to get the 19th Amendment approved in New Mexico. The error rate for the 2022 Nina Otero-Warren quarter is currently very low, but this is not surprising given the circumstances.

The Anna May Wong Quarter is the fifth quarter in the American Women's Quarter series.

The Toll of the Sea (1922) gave Anna May Wing her big break, making her the first Chinese-American actress in Hollywood.

She started her acting career at the age of 14 and worked in theater, television, and movies for more than 50 years. Her role in The Gallery of Madame Liu-Tsong (1951) made her the first Asian American television star in history.

Wong was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 and died in 1961.

As of as now, no significant Anna May Wong Quarter mistakes are known.
