Return Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026

Our promise to you

When you order from BOLD, you should receive the product you ordered, to its specification. If we got your order wrong, we'll put it right at our cost, as set out below.

We don't accept general returns on website orders

Precious metals are priced against a market that moves every minute, and your price is locked the moment you order. Because of that, we're not able to accept returns on website orders because you've changed your mind, or because the metal's price has moved since you ordered.

Want to sell metal back to us? We'd be glad to buy it. Visit Sell to BOLD for a live quote.

Bought from our eBay store? eBay orders are covered by the return policy shown on that eBay listing and by eBay's buyer protection, not by this page. The terms that apply are the ones for the place you bought from.

Something wrong with your order? Here's what to do

1. Check your order when it arrives. Please let us know about any problem within two business days of the carrier's confirmed delivery. The clock starts at delivery, not when we shipped.

Couldn't check it in time? Maybe you were travelling, the parcel was held, or someone else signed for it. Just tell us. We'd rather fix a genuine problem late than turn it away on timing, and we'll look at a later report on its merits.

2. Send us your order number and a few photos. Photos help us see what went wrong and choose the right fix. Often they mean you don't need to ship anything back at all.

3. We'll tell you how we'll put it right. When we reply, we'll say whether we're replacing the item or refunding it.

We'll put your order right, at our expense, if:

  1. you received a different product from the one you ordered;
  2. the quantity or count is short, or the total weight is below the specification;
  3. the metal, fineness, weight, mint or manufacturer differs from the specification;
  4. the year or mint mark differs from the specification, where the listing stated a specific year or mint mark rather than a range or a random year;
  5. the condition or grade differs from the specification, or a certified item is not in the holder or at the grade stated;
  6. a certificate, assay card, capsule, tube or original packaging that the listing stated was included is missing;
  7. the item is damaged, and the damage was not disclosed in the listing;
  8. the item is not genuine; or
  9. the order was not delivered.

How we make it right

Usually, a replacement. Sending the correct item, or the missing quantity, is the quickest way to get you what you ordered. If a replacement isn't available or isn't the right fix, we'll cancel and refund the affected items in full. We decide which remedy fits, and we'll tell you which one we're applying when we reply to your report.

What "replacement" means. You'll get an item of the same specification you ordered. If that exact specification is no longer available, you choose: an item of equivalent metal, weight and fineness, or a full refund. We'll never substitute a different specification without your agreement.

Sending an item back. Items need to come back the way you received them: in their original packaging, with any capsule, tube, certificate or assay card that came with them. If an item has been taken out of its holder, cleaned or otherwise altered, it's no longer in the condition we shipped it in, and we may not be able to accept it.

Putting it right costs you nothing

  • Shipping is on us. We'll email you a prepaid, insured shipping label. Please use it rather than sending the package yourself, so your shipment stays insured and tracked all the way back to us.
  • Fees come back to you. We'll refund any card, PayPal or Apple Pay processing fee you paid on the affected items.
  • You're refunded what you paid. Any refund is for the price you actually paid.

What this policy doesn't cover

To keep things clear and fair for everyone, the following are not defects. They don't qualify for a return, a refund, or shipping at our cost:

  1. a typographical, grammatical or descriptive error in listing text, or a difference between editorial commentary and the item, where the item supplied matches its specification;
  2. a difference between a photograph and the individual item received, for bullion or secondary market items where photographs are representative;
  3. the specific year, mint or design received, where the listing stated a random year, our choice, or a range;
  4. normal variation within the stated condition — toning, milk spots, haze, contact and bag marks, minor abrasions, and variation in lustre or strike are inherent in bullion and in uncirculated coins and are not damage;
  5. variation in packaging, tube or capsule style where none was specified;
  6. a change in the market price of the metal after your order is placed;
  7. a change of mind, or an order placed in error by you;
  8. a problem reported after the two business day period, unless we have agreed to consider a later report as described above; or
  9. damage or loss occurring after delivery, or after onward shipment by a forwarder or other third party acting for you.

If an item isn't genuine

Please tell us right away, and we'll refund or replace it. In these cases we may be required to keep the item and work with law enforcement, so we may not be able to send it back to you.

Going the extra mile

Sometimes we may choose to resolve a situation more generously than this policy requires. It's at our sole discretion and for that occasion only: it doesn't set a precedent, create an entitlement, waive any part of this policy, or oblige us to do the same again.
