Several stars surround this imagery, each representing the states of the United States of America. The inscriptions are “E PLVRIBVS VNVM” and “IN GOD WE TRVST,” the US motto.

The silver round’s reverse features the intricately detailed captivating imagery of the same Texas Commemorative Dollar issued from 1934-1938. This design includes the Angel of Victory in the center, holding an olive branch. Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, the Six Flags of Texas, and the Alamo surround the Angel. The inscriptions surrounding this depiction are “TWO TROY OUNCES .999 FINE SILVER” and the battle cry of Texas, “REMEMBER THE ALAMO.”

About the Texas Commemorative Dollar!

The Texas Commemorative Dollar, otherwise known as a half-dollar with a face value of fifty cents, was produced from 1934 to 1938. Congress authorized this coin in 1933 in response to a proposal from the American Legion’s Texas Centennial Committee, which sought to raise funds for the centennial celebration of Texas’s independence from Mexico. The design for the Texas Commemorative half dollar was created by artist Pompeo Coppini and was minted in facilities located in Denver, San Francisco, and Philadelphia.

The 2 oz Texas Silver Round from the Golden State Mint (GSM) honors this significant history and aims to raise awareness among modern generations about Texas’s struggle for freedom.
