BOLD is excited to present the 20 Francs / 8 Forint Hungary Gold Coin with an Averagely circulated condition. These coins were struck by the Hungarian Mint from 1890 to 1892. These gold coins are among the excellent numismatic finds for collection.
The 20 Francs / 8 Forint Hungary Gold Coin’s obverse bears the effigy of Emperor Franz Joseph I, the emperor of Austria and the King of Hungary. The effigy depicts the Emperor facing right, wearing the crown of tied wreaths. The inscriptions of the Emperor’s title encircling the portrait are “FERENCZ JÓZSEF I ·K · A · CS · ÉS · M · H · S · D · O · AP · KIR · K B.”
The coat of arms of Hungary is depicted on the reverse. The Hungarian coat of arms on the Austro-Hungarian florin coins features the arms with a divided shield. The left side depicts four red and four white stripes. The white stripes are said to depict the four major rivers: Duna (Danube), Tisza, Dráva, and Száva. The right side shows the double cross with its base in a crown. The crown is adorned on a mountain range, representing the extensive landscape of the nation. At the top is the Holy Crown of St. Stephen, which is still showcased at the Parliament Building in Budapest.
The Hungarian Mint (Hungarian: Magyar Pénzverő) is a government owned mint that produces circulating coins for Hungary. As a private company the mint is wholly owned by the Hungarian National Bank and is the sole body responsible for minting coins of the Hungarian forint. As well as minting circulating coins for use domestically, the mint also produces a range of commemorative coins and manufacturers medals.
