Own a piece of history by owning the most sought after and prestigious gold bullion coin in America. The 2025 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle symbolizes the acme of the U.S. Mint art and a world-known benchmark of wealth protection. The coin is authorized by the U.S. Congress, pursuant to the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, and may be regarded as the official gold bullion coin of the United States, and provides the investor and collector with a unique convergence of old fashioned artistry, a guarantees gold content, and the undying support of the United States government. This piece of non-uniform size offers the easiest access point to ownership of a segment of this American legacy.
On the obverse of each American Gold Eagle coin there is more than a picture, there is a legend, a legend of a presidential commission to produce the most beautiful coins in the world. At the beginning of the 20th century, U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, who raged against the hideousness of the current American coinage, himself commissioned the most prominent American sculptor in history, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, to restore a new American Renaissance in coinage.
The outcome was the unbelievably beautiful 1907 design of the Gold Double Eagle 20, which has been duly followed by the Gold Eagle. It shows the full figure of the Lady Liberty, who is walking boldly ahead with the U.S Capitol building on the background. She is holding a torch of enlightenment in her right hand and an olive branch of peace in her left hand. This design is not a simple classical portrait, it is a strong allegory of American strength and ideals which unites every 2025 coin with the moment of artistic and national pride.
To mark the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle program in 2021, the U.S. Mint took the significant step of redesigning the coin, releasing the first significant redesign in the coin, the so-called Type 2 reverse. U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) designer Jennie Norris designed this modern masterpiece.
Replacing the original "Family of Eagles, " Norris' design renders a near-sensational realism to a portrait of a bald eagle in left-profile relief. The small detail shows the intensity of the gaze and its penetrating eyes as well as the plumage of the national bird of America that makes an effective symbol of pride, knowledge, and power. Simultaneously, the U.S. Mint employed new technology to refine the obverse, adding back the nuance of Saint-Gaudens original plaster models to provide a closer realization of his artistic intent.
American Gold Eagle is deliberately produced in a 22 karat gold alloy (which is a mixture of 91.67 percent gold, 3 percent silver and 5.33 percent copper). The U.S. Mint selected this particular standard because of one important factor: durability.
Pure 24-karat gold is so soft that it is highly vulnerable to scratches, dings, and wear that may come through handling and so reduces the beauty and resale value of a coin. With the addition of silver and copper, the coin becomes much harder and stronger thus guaranteeing that even the beautiful details of the Saint-Gaudens and Norris designs will last untouched through time and use. The U.S. Mint makes the coin heavier to guarantee that each of them possesses the entire amount of gold declared on the coin. As an example, a 1/10 oz Gold Eagle contains 3.11 grams of pure gold (as opposed to the gross weight of 3.393 grams), which also means that it consists of one tenth of a troy ounce (3.11 grams) of pure gold. That is why the American Gold Eagle was created as a durable physical commodity built to endure.
The single ounce American Gold Eagle is the easiest and least expensive method to possess what is offered on bullion of gold in the US making it the most convenient one to invest in among beginners and sophisticated investors. Its fractional-size has a number of strategic benefits:
