Australian Quokka

As noted by the mint,

"A quokka is a small type of wallaby found mainly in the south west region of Western Australia, particularly Rottnest Island, an idyllic location 18 kilometres off the coast near Perth.

About the size of a cat, the quokka has thick, grey-brown fur, a broad face, shiny black eyes and round furry ears. Thanks to its cute, smiley appearance and an acceptance of humans, the quokka has become a popular subject for 'selfies' in the age of social media."

Wonderful Design

As a legal tender release by Australia, the obverse displays the 6th generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II to be featured on Australian coins. The portrait is based on that designed by Jody Clark of the Royal Mint for 2016. It is distinctively different, however, in that it displays the Queen's shoulders and full neckline. She also wears the stunning Royal Diamond Diadem, the same she wore at her coronation. Inscriptions within the wide rim-band include "ELIZABETH II . AUSTRALIA . 1oz 9999 Ag . 2021 . 1 DOLLAR."

The reverse of this 2021 1oz Australia Quokka Colored Silver Proof coin features a large image of an adorable quokka on a sandy beach, standing on its hind legs. The quokka is beautifully colored to reflect the mix of dark and lighter brown fur. The cute, smiling creature is munching on a green leaf, with a second leaf at its feet. A lighthouse is seen in the distance, firmly set on a rocky crag. Inscriptions include "QUOKKA" encircling the rim at the top. The traditional P mintmark is at the right rim.

This limited mintage premium Australia Quokka colored proof edition is presented in a classic acrylic display case with a clear lid. It arrives in an illustrated shipper. Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
