Colorado Sales Tax Guide

This tax guide provides a detailed and technical, yet easy-to-read, overview of the state sales tax rules for BOLD Precious Metals in Colorado. BOLD's sales tax license number is 94608811-003-SLS, and their phone number is 1-866-454-2653.

"In Colorado, the sales tax rules for precious metals depend on the type of item and local tax jurisdictions. Some items are taxable only in specific local jurisdictions, while others are subject to the state sales tax rate."

Items Taxable at State Sales Tax Rate:

  1. U.S. and foreign paper currency whose sales price is based on rarity, demand, and condition.

Items Taxable in Some Local Jurisdictions:

  1. Rare or antique coins, once used as legal tender in the U.S. or other countries, whose sales price is based on rarity, demand, condition, and mintage. This includes uncirculated coins and proofs.

  2. Coins made from refined gold, silver, platinum, or palladium minted in the U.S. or other countries. The coin's value is determined by the fluctuating market price of precious metals and often purchased as an investment. These coins are permitted to be held within an IRA under 26 USCS § 408(m).

  3. Bars, ingots, or other forms containing refined gold of 99.5% purity, refined silver of 99.9% purity, refined platinum of 99.95% purity, or refined precious metals of 99.95% purity or greater.

  4. Bars, ingots, or other forms containing refined gold, silver, platinum, or palladium of 90% purity or more but less than the minimum fineness standards.

Sales taxes in Colorado are computed at checkout depending on the taxability of items offered by BOLD Precious Metals and the particular tax rates charged by the taxing authority of the delivery location in Colorado.
