BOLD is very pleased to announce the arrival of the 2023 Tuvalu Baby Rabbit 1/2 oz Silver Proof! This adorable silver-proof coin features a baby rabbit and is the perfect gift for all babies born in 2023, the Year of the Rabbit. Minted by the Perth Mint for the island nation of Tuvalu, this bundle of joy will help commemorate a bundle of joy for parents, family, or friends. The proof finish gives the coin more shine and deeper coloring. Mintage is limited to 7500 pieces with only 7150 in the special packaging, so act fast!
The Chinese Zodiac is based on the lunar calendar, with each year in the 12-year cycle assigned a different animal. For 2023 we celebrate the fourth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac: the Rabbit.
As noted by the mint, "Those born under the sign of the Chinese lunar Rabbit in 2023, 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974 and each 12th preceding year are said to be natural leaders blessed with intelligence, creativity, vigilance, and compassion."
As a legal tender offering by Tuvalu, the obverse for this coin displays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions are "QUEEN ELIZABETH II . TUVALU . 1/2 oz 9999 Ag . 2023 . 50 CENTS."
The reverse depicts a colorized representation of a baby rabbit, sitting happily among yellow flowers, with petals for confetti in the background. The Chinese character for "Rabbit", the inscription "YEAR OF THE RABBIT", and The Perth Mint’s "P" mint mark, are also incorporated into the design.
