2027 1 oz Perth Lunar Year of the Goat Silver Coin (BU)

2027 1 oz Perth Lunar Year of the Goat Silver Coin (BU)

The Perth Mint created the 2027 1 oz Perth Lunar Year of the Goat Silver Coin as part of its Australian Lunar Series III to commemorate the Chinese Year of the Goat. This Brilliant Uncirculated bullion coin, which is made from one troy ounce of .9999 pure silver, features intricate lunar artwork, high-purity silver, Australian legal-tender status, and a maximum mintage of 300,000 coins.

Natasha Muhl created the reverse, which shows an adult goat, a young goat, and a baby goat grazing in harmony. The auspicious phrase "Three Goats Bring Bliss," which stands for rebirth and prosperous new beginnings, is represented by the imagery. The scene is complemented by a plum blossom tree, and the design is finished with the classic "P" mintmark from The Perth Mint, the Chinese symbol for Goat, and the words "GOAT 2027."

The obverse features the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, accompanied by inscriptions identifying the coin's weight, fineness, and monetary denomination.

2027 Year of the Goat Design

The reverse of the 2027 1 oz Silver Lunar Goat Coin celebrates the Goat, the eighth animal of the Chinese zodiac.

The artwork depicts three goats (a mature goat, a young goat, and a baby goat) grazing peacefully together. According to The Perth Mint, the scene embodies the auspicious phrase "Three Goats Bring Bliss," representing the end of winter, the arrival of spring, renewal, and prosperous new beginnings.

A plum blossom tree appears alongside the goats, representing purity, resilience, and hope. The design also incorporates the Chinese character for Goat, the inscription "GOAT 2027," and The Perth Mint's "P" mintmark.

Micro-Engraved Security Feature

The 2027 1 oz Lunar Goat Silver Coin incorporates an authentication feature directly into its reverse artwork.

A micro-engraved letter is hidden within the design and is only detectable under magnification. The Perth Mint states that this feature is intended to make the coin significantly more difficult to counterfeit.

This product-specific security feature provides buyers with useful information beyond the coin's standard weight, purity, and design specifications.

Australian Lunar Series III

The Australian Lunar Series III continues The Perth Mint's long-running bullion program inspired by the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.

The 2027 release celebrates the Year of the Goat, following the lunar calendar's traditional 12-year cycle. Goat years include 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, and 1979. The Perth Mint describes those born under the Goat sign as traditionally associated with gentleness, creativity, compassion, calmness, and resilience.

The Perth Mint's 2027 silver bullion program includes 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, 5 oz, and 1 kilo Lunar Goat coins, with a 10 kilo version scheduled separately. The main Year of the Goat bullion release was scheduled for September 8, 2026.

Why Buy the 2027 1 oz Silver Lunar Goat?

The 2027 1 oz Perth Lunar Goat Silver Coin combines several characteristics that can appeal to both bullion buyers and collectors.

Each coin contains one full troy ounce of .9999 fine silver in the widely recognized 1 oz bullion format. Unlike a generic silver round, it is issued as Australian legal tender and carries an annually changing design from The Perth Mint.

For collectors, the 300,000-coin maximum mintage, 2027 zodiac theme, Natasha Muhl artwork, and Lunar Series III connection provide additional points of interest. For bullion buyers, the standardized 1 oz weight offers a convenient way to add physical silver in individual units.

Buyers primarily interested in acquiring the greatest amount of silver for the lowest premium should still compare the current premium per ounce with generic rounds, silver bars, and larger Lunar Goat sizes.
