The 10 oz Highland Mint Morgan Silver Bar brings together two of American numismatics' most enduring elements: the design of the Morgan Silver Dollar and 10 troy ounces of .999 fine silver. Struck by Highland Mint, an ISO 9001 certified private mint in Melbourne, Florida, each bar arrives in a sealed protective plastic sleeve directly from the mint.
The design is adapted from the Morgan Silver Dollar, created by sculptor George Thomas Morgan (1845–1925), 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. The dollar was first struck on March 11, 1878, under the Bland-Allison Act.
The portrait of Lady Liberty on the Morgan Dollar, reproduced on this bar, was modeled after Anna Willess Williams, a 19-year-old Philadelphia schoolteacher.
