The second release in the prestigious Jesus Collection by Scottsdale Mint, the Light of Christ edition is a bold departure from traditional silver bullion. By plating .999 fine silver with Black Rhodium, one of the rarest and most expensive precious metals on Earth, the mint has created a powerful visual metaphor for the biblical theme: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5). With only 1,000 pieces minted, this 1/2 oz coin represents a rare fusion of faith, art, and premium minting craftsmanship.
Reverse Design: The Blessing The reverse features a detailed depiction of Jesus Christ standing before a stained glass inspired window. His hands are raised in a traditional blessing pose, while a radiant halo surrounds His head, symbolizing divine light and protection. The Black Rhodium is carefully applied to the background fields, allowing the silver sculptural elements of Jesus to stand out with a bright and luminous effect. The Chi Rho symbol appears on the right side, representing one of the earliest monograms of Christ.
Obverse Design: Sovereign Authority The obverse displays the official national crest of Samoa along with inscriptions for 0.5 Troy Ounce, Samoa 2022, and .999 Fine Silver. As a legal tender coin, it carries a face value of 1 Tala, ensuring authenticity and international recognition.
