2027 2 oz Perth Lunar Year of the Goat Silver Coin (BU)

2027 2 oz Perth Lunar Year of the Goat Silver Coin (BU)

The 2027 Perth Lunar Year of the Goat Silver Coin, struck in two troy ounces of .9999 pure silver, features an elaborate design honoring the eighth animal of the Chinese zodiac. This Brilliant Uncirculated bullion coin, created by The Perth Mint as part of its Australian Lunar Series III, combines significant silver content, Australian legal-tender status, and a lunar design that changes every year.

Natasha Muhl created the reverse, which shows an adult goat, a young goat, and a baby goat grazing contentedly next to a plum blossom tree. The image represents rebirth, the approach of spring, and prosperous new beginnings. It was inspired by the auspicious proverb "Three Goats Bring Bliss." The Perth Mint's classic "P" mintmark, the Chinese symbol for "Goat," and the words "GOAT 2027" are also included in the design.

The obverse features the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, accompanied by the coin's weight, .9999 silver fineness, and AUD $2 monetary denomination.

2027 Year of the Goat Silver Design

The reverse of the 2027 2 oz Lunar Goat Silver Coin features three goats peacefully grazing together—a mature goat, a younger goat, and a baby goat.

According to The Perth Mint, the scene represents the auspicious phrase "Three Goats Bring Bliss." Its symbolism is associated with the end of winter, arrival of spring, renewal, and prosperous new beginnings.

A plum blossom tree appears alongside the goats, representing purity, resilience, and hope. The reverse is completed by the Chinese character for Goat, the inscription "GOAT 2027," and The Perth Mint's "P" mintmark.

The obverse carries Dan Thorne's effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, together with the coin's weight, fineness, and monetary denomination.

Built-In Authentication Feature

An important feature worth highlighting on the BOLD product page is the coin's micro-engraved security detail.

The reverse contains a micro-engraved letter incorporated into the design. According to The Perth Mint, the feature is intended to make the coin significantly more difficult to counterfeit and can only be detected under magnification.

Australian Lunar Series III

The Australian Lunar Series is The Perth Mint's precious-metals program inspired by the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. The Mint states that its lunar bullion program has been trusted by investors since 1996, with the current Lunar Series III continuing that tradition across gold, silver, and platinum bullion.

The 2027 Year of the Goat represents the eighth animal of the lunar calendar. The Perth Mint's 2027 silver bullion lineup includes 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, 5 oz, 1 kilo, and eventually 10 kilo versions. The main 2027 Lunar bullion release was scheduled for September 8, 2026.

The 2 oz version offers twice the silver content of the standard 1 oz coin while retaining the same detailed Lunar Goat theme.

Why Buy the 2027 2 oz Silver Lunar Goat?

The 2027 2 oz Perth Lunar Goat Silver Coin can appeal to buyers looking for more than a conventional silver bullion product.

Each coin provides two full troy ounces of .9999 fine silver while combining sovereign legal-tender status with The Perth Mint's annually changing Lunar Series artwork.

The larger 50.80 mm diameter also gives the detailed three-goat design considerably more surface area than smaller fractional versions. For collectors building a Lunar Series III set, the 2 oz format provides another way to own the 2027 Goat design.

For buyers primarily focused on obtaining the greatest possible amount of silver for their budget, however, it is worth comparing the coin's current premium per ounce with standard bullion bars, rounds, and larger silver products before purchasing.

The Year of the Goat

The Goat is the eighth animal in the Chinese zodiac. Goat years include 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, and 1979, repeating on a 12-year cycle.

According to the traditional characteristics presented by The Perth Mint, people born under the Goat sign are associated with gentleness, creativity, compassion, calmness, resilience, and artistic ability.

These associations can give the 2027 coin additional relevance as a lunar-themed collectible or gift, particularly for someone born during a Year of the Goat.
